General terms and conditions which apply to Global Fund grants. 47045-TKM-910-G01-T-2 The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria The estimated Tuberculosis (TB) incidence in Turkmenistan is 69 per 100,000 population. Despite Directly Observed Treatment, Short course (DOTS) being implemented country-wide, including in prisons, and the National TB Programme (NTP) having achieved notable results during recent years, important challenges still need to be addressed. The program funded under this grant has a country-wide scope and addresses the needs of both civilian and penitentiary sectors. The program is designed to sustain DOTS achievements in the country through strengthening NTP capacities, strengthening TB laboratory diagnosis, support to quality treatment of TB cases, advocacy, communication and social mobilization, and initiating TB/HIV collaborative activities. Health System Strengthening (HSS) is an integral part of the project. Interventions to be supported include continuing involvement of Primary Health Care (PHC) in TB control, and strengthening the key health system functions, such as financing, human resources development and service delivery. The program aims to decrease the burden of MDR-TB through introducing and scaling up the DR-TB management, expanding access to DR-TB diagnosis and treatment, providing social support for patients, and conducting operational research on DR-TB.
