47045-THA-M-DDC-2 The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Malaria has been a major health problem in Thailand for more than 50 years. This Program will focus on malaria control for vulnerable populations in endemic areas and the containment of artemisinin resistance. The goal of this Program will move towards the elimination of Plasmodium falciparum malaria parasites in Thailand, with the aim of reaching the targets of the Global Malaria Action Plan (GMAP) and the Global Millennium Development Goals by 2015. The Program will target the Thai population in A1 (perennial malaria transmission occurs every year during at least 6 months of the year) and A2 (transmission occurs every year but during less than 6 months of the year) areas plus communities living in conflict zones (Yala, Narathiwat and Songkhla provinces) and the migrant population. This is a consolidation of Round 10 and Round 7 malaria grants.
