This grant will be used to address the low case detection rate and to contribute to reducing the gaps identified in the Syrian Arab Republic’s ten-year strategic plan by improving access to TB care, particularly for poor and vulnerable populations; addressing multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB); engaging all care providers; strengthening the health system; and encouraging advocacy, communication and social mobilization. The program targets poor urban and rural areas of the five northeastern governorates; poverty pockets in the rural areas of the middle and coastal governorates; vulnerable groups at high risk of developing TB, in particular TB contacts and prisoners; and patients with MDR-TB.
