47045-SNG-H-DLSI-2 The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria One of the major constraints identified by Senegal in its health system is linked to the fact that the potential of health facilities, and in particular public outposts, and private and community facilities, has not been adequately used by the existing programs to strengthen the availability and access to services. The situation largely stems from the fact that infrastructure is insufficient and not conducive to effective organization of quality services. Additionally, more than a third of the rural population lives more than five kilometers away from a health facility with often difficult transportation conditions. As a result, these populations do not have easy access to services. The program supported by this grant aims to fill the gaps in the health system by increasing the quality of services at all the levels of the health pyramid; rehabilitating and equipping additional health facilities; strengthening quality control of interventions; setting a preventive maintenance system at all levels; and developing quality human resources. The program will also contribute to strengthening the monitoring and evaluation system.
