47045-SAF-H-NDOH-2 The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria South Africa currently has one of the highest HIV prevalence rates in the world. According to UNAIDS, in 2008 an estimated 5.7 million people are living with HIV of which approximately 3.2 million are women and 280,000 are children. The current Single Stream of Funding is based on the Round 9 proposal implemented along with two other Principal Recipients; Round 10 proposal implemented along with another Principal Recipient; and Round 6. The grant will implement activities related to improving TB case finding; improving access to antiretroviral therapy (ART); rolling out a streamlined procurement and supply chain management process through a Central Procurement Unit (CPU); carrying out pharmacoviligance; improving data management systems; improving the monitoring and evaluation of the national HIV/AIDS program and capacity building for the national orphaned and vulnerable children program.
