47045-PNG-T-WVI-1 The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria <narrative xml:lang="en">PNG TB - Papua New Guinea (01-Apr-2015-31-Dec-2017)</narrative> Papua New Guinea, Tuberculosis, World Vision (PNG) Trust (WV Papua New Guinea)This program has the following goals: To ensure that high quality medicines are accessible and affordable to the entire population at all times and that they are used rationally (HSS). To establish and improve the quality of laboratory services with emphasis in Primary Health Care in Papua New Guinea (HSS). To reduce the estimated prevalence and death rates of TB to half their 1990 levels by 2020. This means reducing the est. prevalence rate to 339/ 100,000 population (or lower), and reducing the est. death rate to 30/100,000 population by 2020 (TB). The objectives of this program are: Improve PMDT in all the province focusing in 4 high MDRTB prevalent provinces by a) Increase percentage of previously treated TB patients receiving DST from 16% (2013) to 96% by 2020 and b) by achieving TSR for MDRTB from 14% (2011) to 60% by 2020 (TB). Improve the TB control program in the National Capital District (TB). Increase coverage of testing of TB patients for HIV from less than 25% (2013) to greater than 90% in 2020 focusing on 10 high HIV- burden provinces by strengthening TB HIV collaborative activities (TB). Strengthen the Implementation of the local PNG TB care and prevention strategy a) increase CNR for bacteriologically- confirmed, new and relapse cases, from 43 in 2013 to 93 per 100,000 population in 2020 and b) TSR from 68% in 2012 to 88% by 2020 (TB). To ensure adequate and continuous availability of safe, effective and good quality medicines to the entire population at all times (HSS).
