General terms and conditions which apply to Global Fund grants. 47045-PER-809-G07-T-2 The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Although the incidence of new cases has been reduced since 1992, TB remains a significant public health problem in Peru, especially multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB). The overall goal of the program supported by this grant is to contribute to universal access to prevention services for the general and highly vulnerable populations, as well as to provide care, treatment and complete support for all those affected by TB, MDR-TB and extensively drug-resistant TB (XDR-TB) with a focus on social inclusion and human development. The program targets children, adolescents and young people; university students; indigenous populations; and MDR-TB and XDR-TB patients and their families. Grant funds are being used to improve the bio-safety of the health centers; improve the impact of TB treatment in vulnerable and indigenous populations through a research study and training of health personnel; strengthen advocacy activities in the priority regions and provide nutritional and housing support to XDR-TB patients. This grant is being implemented simultaneously with grants from Round 5 and Round 8.
