Being the second most sparsely populated country in the world, providing comprehensive HIV and AIDS services to rural population requires a fully decentralized, community-based approach with strong policies and leadership from the central level. The current grant is implementing the Rolling Continuation Channel (RCC) program of the Round 2 proposal along with the national Principal Recipient (PR). The program aims to reduce the impact of HIV and AIDS through an integrated approach to prevention, treatment, care and support, and mitigation of the impact on the affected populations. Prevention activities include strengthening of community based organizations, social mobilization, condom distribution, voluntary counselling and testing, and prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT). Treatment activities focus on the roll-out of anti-retroviral treatment (ART), care and support activities on the provision of home-based care and mitigation activities provide support to orphans and vulnerable children (OVC).
