47045-JOR-011-G04-T-1 The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria <narrative xml:lang="en">empowering civil society and strengthening NTP to improve quality of tuberculosis care for the most vulnerable populations - Jordan (01-Apr-2012-30-Jun-2014)</narrative> Tuberculosis (TB) control in Jordan has improved, particularly in major cities and most of the rural areas; however, there are significant gaps in terms of quality of services for the most vulnerable groups of patients, particularly the non-Jordanian nationals who account for one-fifth of the residents of Jordan. This Program aims to pursue, optimize &amp; sustain quality Directly Observed Treatment, Short Term (DOTS); adapt DOTS to respond to TB-HIV, multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) and other special challenges; promote cross-border care and tracking of patients; engage all care providers; empower patients and communities; enable &amp; promote operational research; and strengthen the health system response to TB. The goal of the Program is to improve the quality of TB care for these most vulnerable populations to scale up MDR-TB management, control and care, and strengthen the health system response to TB control.
