To halve new HIV infections by 2022. To improve the life expectancy and quality of life for people infected and affected by HIV and comorbidity agents. The objectives of this program are: To improve screening for new cases of tuberculosis with a view to reporting 3200 new cases by 2020. To improve treatment success to achieve a rate in excess of 85% from 2016 and to maintain it at that level until 2020. To ensure that the prevalence of primary resistance amongst new cases does not exceed 1.8% between now and 2020. To reduce the death rate among cases of co-infection from 17% to 15% by 2020. For the incidence of HIV to halve by 2022. For the HIV mortality rate to be reduced by 70% by 2022

<narrative xml:lang="en">Investing for impact against HIV and Tuberculosis in Djibouti - Djibouti (01-Jan-2016-30-Jun-2018)</narrative> HIV and AIDS is a major public health problem in the Republic of Djibouti: there is a generalized epidemic with an estimated prevalence level of 2.9 percent and concentrated among some population at higher risk (2014 IBBS study estimating the prevalence of HIV among female sex workers at 13%). With regards to tuberculosis (TB), Djibouti is ranked fifth in the world in terms of TB incidence and additionally, has a high incidence of TB/HIV co-infection. Furthermore, the level of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is estimated at 3.7 in new cases and 37.8 in previously treated cases, according to a newly conducted Drug Resistance Survey. This TB/HIV grant will focus on reducing new HIV infections by targeting both the general population and key populations, through behavioral change activities which will include condom promotion, counselling and testing, and diagnostic and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Moreover, the program will scale out access to treatment and care for people living with HIV, including pregnant women, children and co-infected patients. With regards to the TB component, the program aims at increasing the detection rate among the general population and key populations, such as refugees and prisoners. In addition, it will provide diagnostic, treatment and care for drug-resistant TB.
