47045-CMR-910-G08-M-2 The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Malaria is endemic in Cameroon where it is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality. The overall program goal is to contribute to the national objective of halving the malaria burden by 2014 through scale-up of key malaria interventions. The program is supported by two Global Fund grants implemented by a government and civil society Principal Recipient, respectively, working in partnership. This grant focuses on behavior change communication. Planned activities include mass media broadcasts and training for mass-media practitioners, as well as information and education initiatives at the community level – including training in malaria for members of civil society organizations. This program aims to build on the achievements of the program supported by Cameroon’s Round 3 grant, which focused on the distribution of insecticide-treated nets to populations most at risk from malaria, and the program supported by its Round 5 grant, which focused on malaria case management.
