47045-CAF-404-G03-T-1 The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria The Central African Republic is one of the 22 countries that account for 80 percent of TB cases in the world. The program supported by this grant has an overall goal of reducing TB-related sickness and death. The program will improve case detection of TB, and will also improve access to care and strengthen the capacity of the National Program Against Tuberculosis. Planned activities include the training of health and social workers and the procurement and distribution of medical and non-medical supplies. The program also plans to expand the implementation of DOTS; improve data collection on TB cases and monitor anti-TB drug resistance.
